David has lived in the Chicagoland area his entire life. Growing up in Darien, Illinois, David attended Downers Grove South High School and ran Cross Country and Track all four years. He then went on to run for North Central College in Naperville for four years.
While at North Central, David earned multiple All-Conference Honors as well as All-American status by placing 16th at the Cross Country National Championships in 2004. After finishing college David went on to compete in his first marathon in Chicago.
